Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana
From GovernIndia
The Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana was launched in April of 2005 with aim of electrification of all villages and habitations, providing access to electricity to all rural households and to provide electricity connections to BPL (Below Poverty Line) families, free of charge.
While the original target was the electrification of all rural households by 2009 [1], as of August 1, 2009, only about 24.2% of a total of 3,55,372 villages identified for intensive electrification had been covered.[2]
The project has it's own website at rggvy.gov.in.
