Background
Soft spoken and a suave politician, 60-year old Pawan Kumar Bansal is a graduate in science and law. A confidant of the Gandhi family, Bansal was re-elected to the 15th Lok Sabha for the fourth time in 2009 and got the Cabinet berth.
In the previous Council of Ministers, he was Minister of State for Finance and was member of various Parliamentary Committees including the famous Cash for Query Committee. He has also held various positions at different levels in the Congress and has been member in many Joint Parliamentary Committees like Indian Medical Council (Amendment) Bill, Central Vigilance Commission Bill, 1999 etc.
