Consumer Price Index

The Consumer Price Index, or CPI for short, is a collective name for more than one price series in India. There are four series, viz., CPI UNME (Urban Non-Manual Employees), CPI AL (Agricultural Labourer), CPI RL (Rural Labourer) and CPI IW (Industrial Worker). The first of these series is published by the Central Statistical Organisation within the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation while the other three are published by the Labour Bureau in the Ministry of Labour.
