Only six months ago, the Rajasthan PCC chief lost in Assembly polls from Nathdwara by a solitary vote but he made a remarkable comeback by winning the Lok Sabha polls and making it to the Union Cabinet. For the 59-year-old four-time MLA, inclusion in the Union Cabinet is a reward for the key role he played in the party's revival in the state along with Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. Known to be close to Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi, the MP from Bhilwara is considered an astute politician. He played a key role as member of Opposition during the entire five-year-term of BJP government, guiding his party to wrest power from the rival.
